Users of Hayling Island beaches have been warned to keep an eye out for deadly Portugese Manofwar Jellyfish this week.
The warning comes after several dead jellyfish have been washed up on the shores of Hayling and other local beaches including West Wittering and Bracklesham Bay.
The first of the jellyfish, which can inflict very painful and sometimes fatal stings was discovered by a member of the public walking on the Beach. Since then Havant Borough Council's Beach Patrol have discovered at least 3 more and have erected warning signs on parts of the beach.
The timing of these unusual visitors is of particular concern as we are promised that most rare of things this weekend: A sunny bank holiday weekend.
